AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Dear Potential or Current After School Instructors,

Community Schools is starting to plan for our 3rd quarter of After School Programs at our Elementary Schools!  We invite you to fill out our after school proposal form by November 18, 2022 if you want to work during the 3rd quarter.

We need everyone to fill out a proposal form, do not just assume we are going to schedule you for a position!  We will confirm with you after the Thanksgiving Break.

We want you to be creative, so this is your chance to design your dream enrichment class!  Anything from art, science, theater, music, sports, any hobby you love or have a passion for! We do want students to continue to sign up for your programs, so try and offer something new this quarter!

The dates for our winter session programs are January 3 - March 17, 2023.

Click here to fill in your proposal form!

Please contact Sabrina Romero at sromero@cfsd16.org if you have any questions.

TEACHER OF THE YEAR

It's that time again!

Do you know that teacher that has made an impact for your child? Do they go above and beyond? Do you feel they are getting the recognition they deserve?

NOW IS THE TIME! Nominate that teacher or teachers! There's no limit to the number of teachers an individual may nominate. Each teacher receives copies of their nominations. This is such a great way to show our CFSD teachers how much they are appreciated!

Nominations are again online only at www.cfsdfoundation.org and the deadline is 11/30 at 11:00 PM.

BOXTOPS

Have you tried out this new app?

Have you send this to your family out of state?

YESSS!!! They can do this too!

Download the app and scan all receipts to help help accumulate box top cash for Sunrise.

SO HOW DO I DO IT?

Follow these simple steps for Sunrise Box Tops:

Step 1) Download app

Step 2) Setup Profile

Step 3) Add Sunrise Drive Elementary in Tucson as your school to donate to.

Step 4) Shop & scan your receipts! Any eligible products will accumulate box top cash for Sunrise!

Note: Any physical box tops that you find on a box can still be clipped and sent to school, but most products no longer are printing the Box Top icon since the program has moved to the app system.

Instacart or online shopper? No problem! Just screenshot your digital receipt, go to “Contact Us” on app, and select “Submit Digital Receipt.” Then upload the screenshot(s) of your receipt.

Some of my favorite brands that earn $ for Sunrise:

PaperMate office & school supplies, Annie’s, Yoplait, Oui, Airborne, Betty Crocker, Old El Paso, Progresso, General Mills cereals, & Lysol.

Earn Bonus Box Tops at Costco, Walmart, Target & Dollar General - check app weekly to cash in!

Thanks so much!

SCHOOL GARDEN

Sunrise students are so excited about our school garden this year! Garden Club is every Tuesday, and there are many opportunities for education and fun as we watch our garden grow!

In the last month, we have prepared the soil, transplanted starts, planted seeds and bulbs, painted Spirit of Sunrise rock edgers, and nested our composting worms in their VermiHut. The lettuce and peas love this cool weather and are flourishing!

We were even able to do a lettuce tasting of 3 different varieties and prepared a Principal’s Salad for Ms. Davidson to enjoy last week! Several students were surprised at how good the lettuce tasted fresh from the garden! One student said, “I never tried salad before, but it’s good!” Another student told his mom how surprised he was at the red wiggler worm count right before falling asleep.

Garden activities stimulate many of the senses, and studies show that kinesthetic learning is some of the most memorable education.

Thanks to Alex, Mark & Michael for being great FFO volunteers in our garden! If you would like to volunteer, donate, or learn more about our garden, contact Nkechi, our FFO Garden Coordinator, at nkechidiallo@gmail.com or send a text: 509.879.7639
