Welcome to the Sunrise Drive FFO! Every single Sunrise Drive family is automatically a member of the Family Faculty Organization. We meet monthly to raise funds for school activities and support our amazing Sunrise teachers and staff. You are invited to attend our next meeting. President's Intro

LUCKY TO BE AT SUNRISE!!

So many things happening, so many ways to get involved before end-of-the school year. Huge shout out to Aly Nevarez for putting our Digest together every month. Thank you to our awesome Rodeo volunteers and all the families who came out to experience Sunrise at its best…again! Thank you to Tyler for coordinating food for our teachers EVERY MONTH! What is your position with Sunrise FFO? Treasurer

How many kids do you have?
Ali Mazda (4th grade) Ms. K. Chen

Where were you born? I was born in the city of Shiraz, in Iran.

What is your occupation? I am currently a mother and eventually a pharmacist.

What do you do for fun? I enjoy walking along the Rillito River Park. Cooking is also fun for me.

What is your favorite restaurant? I enjoy most of locally owned restaurants: Chef Wang, El Cine, Wild Garlic Grill, The 81 Hong Kong Cafe , and of course June Dynasty.

What do you LOVE about Sunrise? I love the sense of community in Sunrise. The calm energy is so magical from the time the kids step their feet in school and classroom, until pick up.

Why did you join Sunrise FFO? I feel like so many other parents and families helped to have this amazing environment for our students and I would like to give that gifts back to our community.

Where is one destination place you would love to go? NYC. I love busy streets.

What is one fun fact about you that you can share? I love to shop and find good deals, and a 98 cents pants from Walmart is my recent victory.

What do you do for fun? Travel

What is your favorite restaurant? Zinburger

What do you LOVE about Sunrise? The community of Sunrise instantly felt like our private school in Chicago. Thank you to all the families, teachers and staff for making Sunrise a fun and invigorating community!

Why did you join Sunrise FFO? I wanted to get to know more people at the school. Also it’s fun to know about and support all the great things happening at Sunrise!

Where is one destination place you would love to go? Paris, France

What is one fun fact about you that you can share? We are spending the week in England to visit with Hartley’s grandparents and cousins!

FFO MEETING

Please come join us for our FFO Meeting this Friday, March 17th at 8:15AM in the Library. Stay in the know and hear about what is going at our AMAZING school. We will hear the Principal report from our one and only, Mrs. Davidson, as well as other events happening to give our children the best experience and opportunities here at Sunrise.

This is a meeting you don't want to miss!

Staff Appreciation Success

Sunrise FFO provided a delicious charcuterie lunch to the Sunrise teachers and staff on Valentine’s Day so that they could enjoy some yummy and healthy snacks and desserts on a busy day! We love our teachers and staff!

Do you have the skills necessary (or a desire to learn new skills) to put together photo slideshows? Want to make the video that will be featured during the 5th grade promotion?

General requirements: Collect photos from teachers and each of the 5th grade students (approximately 1 photo for each student for each school year K - 5) and compile the photos into a video with music.

Mathathon is still in FULL SWING!

What: Mathathon is a huge fundraiser for Sunrise with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the school.

When: February 1 was the Kick-off. Please see the timeline below.

Why: Sunrise Drive FFO raises tens of thousands of dollars for field trips, artists-in-residence, Community Garden, 5th grade legacy project and dozens of other campus programs through Mathathon. Our families achieve this while students have fun studying math — it’s a true win/win for Sunrise and students!

How: Students get pledges from family and friends for either (a) each math problem answered correctly on the Test Day (March 14), or (b) a flat amount.

February 1: Mathathon packet with pledge instructions went home.
February 1 to March 13: Use test from take-home packet for practice - the more practice the better!
March 13: All “per problem pledges” must be received. Flat pledges can still be made after this date.
March 14: Test day! Remember, math is fun!
April 3: All pledges must be completed online. Any money paid after this date will not be included in the calculation of prizes (though,of course, it will be accepted).

EVERY participating student will take home a prize, regardless of the amount they raise. Our goal is 100% participation.

Note: Any physical box tops that you find on a box can still be clipped and sent to school, but most products no longer are printing the Box Top icon since the program has moved to the app system.

Instacart or online shopper? No problem! Just screenshot your digital receipt, go to “Contact Us” on app, and select “Submit Digital Receipt.” Then upload the screenshot(s) of your receipt.
