President's Intro

Hello Sunrise Drive Families!

Thank you for being an active participant in your child’s school and the FFO.

Please remember to donate ($50/student) to the FFO, if you have not already.

Kindergarten is in the lead with 12 families donating out of 79 families~thank you!

3rd grade is in a close 2nd place with 11 families who have donated to Spirit of Sunrise.

These donations have already been dispersed!

Please sign up or login to Membership Toolkit, simply scan the QR code below or write an old fashioned check. $250 or more is tax deductible. Your child’s school needs a healthy FFO to fulfill the grants requested by teachers. Thank you for being a part of this effort.

Sunrise Garden News!

We are harvesting watermelon (including the  yellow watermelon pictured above), eggplant, cucumbers, peppers, herbs, zucchini, corn & okra this month!

We are learning about plant propagation through cuttings & seeds, composting, worm farming, and how to determine vegetable and fruit ripeness.

We are enjoying the flavors of the garden, especially sweet corn, banana peppers, strawberries & watermelon! Students also love watering, raking, & checking on the growth of the red wiggler earthworms.

We are excited about the next 12 watermelons that are ripening, the baby cantaloupes, our new honeydew melons, Piel de Sapo melons, and pumpkins that are all growing each week. We look forward to our new raised beds!

Join us for our Family Work DaySept 23rd, 7am-noon, when we will paint the garden tool shed Sunrise blue & yellow, dig up a bermuda grass patch, & spread soil & compost in our new raised beds! The mesquite tree roots have taken over the water supply at the back of our garden, so our new raised beds will have liners that will prevent this invasive root issue while providing more mobility access to this back gardening area. We have gloves for kids; adults please bring your own. Come for a great day of community & colorful photo ops… & please clip some BASIL to take home (we have so much)!

For more information about garden activities or to volunteer for Garden Club on Tuesdays 11-1
