Welcome to the FFO!

Welcome to the Sunrise Drive FFO! Every single Sunrise Drive family is automatically a member of the Family Faculty Organization. We meet monthly to raise funds for school activities and support our amazing Sunrise teachers and staff. You are invited to attend our next meeting. Please read below to find out key dates, times, and activities!

President's Intro

Hello Sunrise Drive Families!

Thank you for being an active participant in your child’s school and the FFO.

Please remember to donate ($50/student) to the FFO, if you have not already.

Kindergarten is in the lead with 12 families donating out of 79 families~thank you!

3rd grade is in a close 2nd place with 11 families who have donated to Spirit of Sunrise.

These donations have already been dispersed!

Please sign up or login to Membership Toolkit, simply scan the QR code below or write an old fashioned check. $250 or more is tax deductible. Your child’s school needs a healthy FFO to fulfill the grants requested by teachers. Thank you for being a part of this effort.

We have Picnic & Play Sept. 28th (Thursday) @ Sunrise Elementary. This is a time to have fun and an easy meal. Bring your family's dinner and eat at the school.

Don't want to cook?

Stop by SubWay (Sunrise/Swan) on the way ! They supports your school by giving our FFO a percentage of their sale on Sept. 28th. Pick up dinner and join us to picnic at the school! Watch the children play and meet other parents!!! Then visit the bookfair in the library.

Thank you Lori Cole for your dedication to the book fair over the years!

The playground opens at 5:00 and closes at 7:00.

Exciting activities passing by and coming up! Thank you to all who supported Sauce and our school. We had a great time socializing and visiting with friends while eating good food! Thank you to Karla Smith, our chair, for coordinating this event.

If you couldn’t make it to Sauce PLEASE join us at Zinburger on Campbell, October 17th, for another opportunity to dine out with your school. There is a very generous offer in the percentage the FFO will receive. Again, thank you Karla for finding and setting up this great and fabulous opportunity for our Sunrise Families!

Consider joining us on FaceBook SUNRISE DRIVE FFO for smiles and giggles! You may even recognize your child!

Happy birthday to our wonderful VP Communications Executive Member Chair Aly Nevarez!

A note from your Sunrise’s CFSD Foundation Representative, Denise Frenz:

Nearly ⅓ of the The Catalina Foothills Education Foundation total fundraising comes from vital Business Partner relationships. If you are a local business owner and are looking for ways to support CFSD, contact our Business Partner liaison, Julie Nielson, a for details on our tiered Business Partner program.

Did you know?????

Students are given a choice to visit the library during their lunch recess?! What an opportunity!

Did you know they have access to Legos? Did you further know, we are in great need for Lego heads? Do you have some Legos lying around needing to be donated?

Then please consider dropping them off at Sunrise TODAY!

Sunrise Garden News!

We are harvesting watermelon (including the  yellow watermelon pictured above), eggplant, cucumbers, peppers, herbs, zucchini, corn & okra this month!

We are learning about plant propagation through cuttings & seeds, composting, worm farming, and how to determine vegetable and fruit ripeness.

We are enjoying the flavors of the garden, especially sweet corn, banana peppers, strawberries & watermelon! Students also love watering, raking, & checking on the growth of the red wiggler earthworms.

We are excited about the next 12 watermelons that are ripening, the baby cantaloupes, our new honeydew melons, Piel de Sapo melons, and pumpkins that are all growing each week. We look forward to our new raised beds!

Join us for our Family Work DaySept 23rd, 7am-noon, when we will paint the garden tool shed Sunrise blue & yellow, dig up a bermuda grass patch, & spread soil & compost in our new raised beds! The mesquite tree roots have taken over the water supply at the back of our garden, so our new raised beds will have liners that will prevent this invasive root issue while providing more mobility access to this back gardening area. We have gloves for kids; adults please bring your own. Come for a great day of community & colorful photo ops… & please clip some BASIL to take home (we have so much)!

For more information about garden activities or to volunteer for Garden Club on Tuesdays 11-1
