Sunrise FFO Digest - March 2024
Welcome to the FFO!

Welcome to the Sunrise Drive FFO! Every single Sunrise Drive family is automatically a member of the Family Faculty Organization. We meet monthly to raise funds for school activities and support our amazing Sunrise teachers and staff. You are invited to attend our next meeting. Please read below to find out key dates, times, and activities!

President's Intro

We have lots of information to share about the many events going on in our Sunrise Drive Family Faculty Organization in the upcoming weeks.

Be sure to check out the Calendar!

Also, we are always looking for volunteers.

Please email our Volunteer Coordinator at to see if there's anything you can do to help.

Please come join us for our FFO Meeting this Friday, March 15th at 8:15AM in the Library. Stay in the know and hear about what is going at our AMAZING school. We will hear the Principal report from our one and only, Mrs. Davidson, as well as other events happening to give our children the best experience and opportunities here at Sunrise.

We would like to thank some of our chair members for all they do for our students and staff!

Lori Cole & Jennifer Yau: Book Fair
Kirsten Botsford: Box Tops
Karla Smith: Dine Outs
Tracy Rea: Family Fun Run/Fitness Day/Mathathon

We met our Blue Ribbon T-shirt pre-order goal of 100!

Thank you, wonderful Sunrise supporters! If you reserved a shirt by preordering, it is time to pay for your Blue Ribbon t-shirt(s) at Membership ToolKit Link

If you would like a t-shirt and didn’t preorder, it is not too late. Use the same link to order.

Please make your purchases/payments by Sunday, March 10th. We'll then place our order, to hopefully then receive the shirts before spring break.

Note: THIS IS THE ONLY TIME WE'RE ORDERING LONG SLEEVES & V-NECKS. Place an order now if you’d like one.

Did you know that we are 1 in 4 schools in Arizona that was awarded the National Blue Ribbon Award? It recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.

We have over 2000 public schools in AZ, not including private & charter schools. It is a coveted award and it's AWESOME that we won it! IT'S GOOD TO BE AT SUNRISE!!!

Wednesday, March 13th: EL CHARRO 5PM-8PM

Whether you dine in or carry out, stop by Wednesday, 3/13 anytime from 5pm-9pm bring in this flyer & they will donate 22% to our FFO.

Help spread the word and share with family & friends

Mathathon Test Day is

Tuesday, March 12!

What: Mathathon is a huge fundraiser for Sunrise with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the school.

When: February 1 was the Kick-off. Please see the timeline below.

Why:  Sunrise Drive FFO raises tens of thousands of dollars for field trips, artists-in-residence, Community Garden, 5th grade legacy project and dozens of other campus programs through Mathathon. Our families achieve this while students have fun studying math — it’s a true win/win for Sunrise and students!

How: Students get pledges from family and friends for either (a) each math problem answered correctly on the Test Day (March 12), or (b) a flat amount.

  • February 1: Mathathon packet with pledge instructions went home.

  • February 1 to March 11: Use test from take-home packet for practice - the more practice the better!

  • March 11: All “per problem pledges” must be received. Flat pledges can still be made after this date.

  • March 12: Test day! Remember, math is fun!

  • April 2: All pledges must be completed online. Any money paid after this date will not be included in the calculation of prizes (though, of course, it will be accepted).

EVERY participating student will take home a prize, regardless of the amount they raise. Our goal is 100% participation. So...if you haven't already done so, please register your student(s) today! Please visit Pledge Link to participate.

Please consider helping score tests on the morning of Tuesday, March 12, between 8:15-11:15. Come and stay as long as you can. There will be coffee, bagels and good company. Use the link below to volunteer:

We are so proud of all of you!

March is National Reading Month and the Sunrise Drive FFO wants to engage and motivate the readers in your lives. National Reading Month is an important opportunity to encourage reading every day and to foster a love of books for all children.

To celebrate, your student will get to pick out a book of their choice to keep during one of their classroom library visits this month. The books are funded by Scholastic Dollars raised by your support of the Scholastic Book Fair.

The next Scholastic Book Fair will be April 29th - May 3rd. Thank you for your support and happy reading!

Donate ANY amount to the Spirit of Sunrise in the month of March and automatically be entered to win the parking spot for the entire month of April.

This reserved parking spot is located in the teacher parking lot, which means you don't need to wait in the LONG pick up lines anymore.

Yearbooks are available to purchase now through April 22nd.

Click on the link below to create your account and purchase a yearbook for your student. We are partnering with a new vendor this year, Treering. We also have two new yearbook editors, Mrs. Dover and Mrs. Ackerman, who are learning as they go and putting together a lovely yearbook to capture your Sunrise memories.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Dover at or Mrs. Ackerman at

Lost and Found

Please remind your child to check lost and found. Parents remember to label all items with your child’s name. We will try our best to return labeled items. Over the course of the month, we collect hundreds of items that don't have names on them and go unclaimed. The items that are labeled, we go to great efforts to return them.

On the last day of every month, all the untraceable and unclaimed items will be donated to charity.
