President's Intro

I am so proud to be at Sunrise! We have been able to accomplish so much to support our students and faculty! From our new shade structure to classroom grants to extending contracts such as Reflex math and Curbsmart for years to come! We are busy at work planning our 5th grade promotion ceremony and getting ready for next year. We still have a few open officer and chair positions for next year so we would love to have your participation! Thank you everyone for all that you do and hope to see you Friday!

Thanks to your donations and support we were able to pass the following grants last month!

Sunrise Masks Available in FFO Store!

Sunrise Masks are now available in the FFO Store! Show your spirit while staying safe by sporting a Sunrise mask for only $5 each. We have adult and children's masks available. Get them while they last!

5th Grade Promotion Ceremony Slide Show

Who: 5th Grade Parents, Teachers, and Friends
What: We need pictures of ALL current 5th graders doing school related activities. The pictures don’t need to be from the 2020-2021 school year! Photos may be from any time a current 5th grader was at Sunrise. Show us those growing faces and friendships!
  • YES - photos taken at Sunrise and Sunrise-related events, photos taken during remote learning, and photos of students doing school work at home; group photos encouraged! Please include at lease one individual photo from the 2020-2021 school year for our grand finale.
  • MAYBE - photos of Sunrise students taken on or after March 13, 2020 at non-Sunrise locations
  • NO - photos of birthday parties, pictures of non-Sunrise team sports, photos of things that are not Sunrise related. 
  • The committee/school will reject photos if deemed not-school-related or inappropriate.
When:  Please submit high quality photos by no later than April 30th.  
Where: Email photos(with the names of the child(ren) depicted and the approximate date or grade-when-taken for each photo) to ACourson@att.net or contact Amy Courson at 602-999-3204 to arrange to submit photos.  Keep in mind, there are almost 100 5th graders, so please send your best 10 photos. If you send more than 10 pictures, only the first 10 submissions/attachments to your email will be included.
Why: Help us make the 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony special and remind students of all of the fun they have had over the past 6 years at Sunrise.

5th Grade T-Shirt Contest

Who:  5th Graders
What: Design contest for the t-shirts all students will receive during the last week of school.
When: Submission information coming soon. But, to help you start planning and designing, here are the rules:
  • 1) Must contain"Class of 2028"(does NOT need to reference Sunrise Drive)
  • 2) Must be appropriate(any entries deemed inappropriate by the committee/school will be disqualified)
  • 3) Can be printed on a shirt in a single color, likely black or white(avoid small details or overlapping designs)
  • 4) Format must be a JPG or PDF, no more than 10MB in size
  • 5) One design submittal per student
  • 6) Be creative and have fun!

5th Grade Promotion 8 oz. Water Donations

We need donations of the small 8 oz water bottles for the water stations at the 5th grade promotion ceremony.  Donations of larger bottles will be given to the school for use by students and teachers in other settings. Please call the front office to make arrangements for drop-off. THANK YOU!

Mathathon Thank You

The final results are in for the Mathathon. We had the Best Year Ever...raising over $32,000!!! Truly amazing!!!  

A big heartfelt Thank You to all Sunrise families and friends who made pledges to support our school’s FFO. This money will be a great help toward funding class field trips, the community garden and many more campus programs.

Top classrooms are as follows:
Highest Participation - Ms. Yu’s in-person Kindergarten class with 70% participation.They will receive FREE EEGEE certificates.  

Most Money Raised: Ms. Pennington’s 2nd grade class who raised $4,498.67. They will receive FREE EEGEE certificates plus $100 to spend as the teacher and class choose.

Highest Average Score - First graders received this honor. They will receive a fun recess filled with special activities.

Best.Year.Ever - Last but not least, because Sunrise families and friends have raised over $25,000(surpassing last year by over $9,000), the entire student body will get to celebrate with a week full of fun PE games and a“crazy dress-up and hair day.”
